Buddhism in Nepal
There are many wonderful buddhist sites in Nepal, and many were damaged by the earthquake in 2015. Rebuilding efforts continue. Thank you for supporting our handmade products helping the economic regrowth of Nepal.
We’d like to share a video compilation of sites throughout Nepal with quotes of wisdom from the Buddha.
What does “Buddha” Mean?
Once asked a question, it is said Buddha responded:
A brahmin once asked The Blessed One:
“Are you a God?”
“No, brahmin” said The Blessed One.
“Are you a saint?”
“No, brahmin” said The Blessed One.
“Are you a magician?”
“No, brahmin” said The Blessed One.
“What are you then?”
“I am awake.”
The term Buddha means “Awakened One” (See Wikipedia: Buddha for more). Tradition holds that Gautama Buddha was born in Lumbini, Nepal.
