A Quake that Cannot be Forgotten

A crippling 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck Nepal on April 25, 2015. The quake killed over 8,000 people.

The Nepal Rises video below shows the destruction and disruption that came to Nepal, but also the resilience of the Nepali people and the tireless efforts of volunteers.

Aftershocks and Destruction

Aftershocks rocked Nepal about every 15 to 20 minutes. Large aftershocks occurred on April 26th (6.7), and May 12, 2015 reaching a magnitude of 7.3.

The earthquakes caused significant disruption to Nepali infrastructure making it difficult for aid to travel throughout the areas affected.

Landslides occurred throughout the affected regions such as in the Langtang Valley. A landslide on Mount Everest on the 25th killed 21 people.

We remember those who were killed in the earthquake and aftershocks, and the courage by the thousands who volunteered and still volunteer to help rebuild the lives of so many affected by the earthquakes.
